The Essential Book of Choy Lee Fut

The Essential Book of Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu was my first book. In fact, it was the natural evolution of a pocket manual, previously edited in my native language, that I used to offer to my students in order for them to learn the main terminology of the system and connecting the names to the techniques they usually do at my Kung Fu school.

From here, it evolved to a more complex book, in regular size this time, with more history related content, lineages, fighting theory, deep terminology, basic form and other relevant information a Choy Lee Fut enthusiast and/or practitioner must know about.

Turns out to be an overall but complete book that recollects all the “must know” information about this Chinese martial art system and I was surprise to know that students from other martial arts bought it just to get know how a Kung Fu system works. Take a look at the contents:

It was also a surprise to know sales were more than expected and still keep selling at the same pace, which gave me the confidence to start other Choy Lee Fut related projects, which I will be promoting here at my website. In fact, a book about Siu Mui Fa Kyun form is already out (see it here) as a result, and the next one is coming out at the beginning of 2019.

I call your attention for a simple note on “The essential book of Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu”. As I state above, the book was initially projected and written around the terminology of the Choy Lee Fut techniques, not only for students have a comprehensive reference to follow, but too because upon my researches and studies on Choy Lee Fut, I quickly found how different the same technique could sound from lineage to lineage, even inside the same school with different teachers. It even seemed to me, most of the schools named incorrectly the most basic and fundamental techniques.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Knowing that it was extremely important for me to choose a scientific approach to translation, giving the book a solid component anybody could trust and follow. The Yale transliteration method was chosen and in fact, I was very happy with the result. Clean terminologies, clear concepts, standard transliterations. Here you have it, in its pure and original form.

And after my book, I was very happy to see other author’s follow the same path and methodology, even improving the way I have done. Isn’t that fantastic? Now we have a standard that will become more and more popular. Now we know Chaap Cheui is Chaap Cheui, and so one, doesn’t matter if you are in China or France or anywhere…! With “The essential book of Choy Lee Fut” you can learn the main terminologies of the Choy Lee Fut system, find it’s original character and understand by your self the meaning, because on Chinese martial arts it really matters knowing the name and the meaning, as they give you the proper way to execute them.

So, what are you waiting for? You have already enough reasons to have this book on your shelf…! You can buy at any Amazon online store, just follow the link at the beginning of the page.
